The name Ukukhanya, which means “the light”, reflects the choir’s mission: to bring positivity and inspiration to communities through soulful music and uplifting performances. Since its humble beginnings, Ukukhanya has used its platform to address pressing social issues, spark meaningful conversations, and encourage collective action. “This album is about hope, unity, and shining light even in challenging times,” said choir director Thabang Mosiapoa. “We want our music to touch hearts and inspire people to be part of positive change in society.” He said in a country where headlines often highlight crime and social unrest, Ukukhanya’s work stands out as a reminder of the power of music to heal and unite. Mosiapoa said through its melodious, spiritual songs, the choir reaches a wide audience, offering moments of reflection, joy, and social awareness. He said the album launch festival promises an unforgettable experience for fans of gospel and inspirational music.
