2–3 minutes By Molaole Montsho The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in Letlhabile, outside Brits in the North West, has clinched the prestigious Anton Lembede Award, recognising it as the best-performing ANCYL branch in the country. The award was presented during the ANC’s 114th birthday celebrations and January 8th Statement held in Moruleng, outside Rustenburg. The ANCYL branch in Ward 34 of the Madibeng Local Municipality earned national acclaim for its organisational strength and community work. Branch chairperson Otshepeng Malapane, flanked by branch secretary Thabang Dithebe, vowed to keep the coveted award in Letlhabile. Malapane said the recognition was the result of sustained hard work and commitment on the ground. “We are on the ground engaging with the people, especially the youth, for the renewal of the ANC and the ANCYL,” he said. The branch has partnered with churches and other local stakeholders to uplift the community through various social programmes. The ANCYL Regional Task Team in the Bojanala region praised the Madibeng Ward 38 branch executive committee and its members for the achievement. “This endorsement from the ANCYL NEC (National Executive Committee) marks a significant attainment for the branch in the Bojanala Region and confirms that the renewal and rebuilding of the ANCYL is great and firmly on track and merits continued support,” said regional coordinator Pako Mokoua. Mokoua said the award recognised outstanding organisational excellence and consistent work in tackling social challenges. “Madibeng Ward 38 ANCYL branch remains to be a model for other ANCYL structures in the region and province, highlighting the power of community-based activism, strong organisational discipline, and real engagement with young people within the community.” She added that the Regional Task Team also commended Thabang Rampou, a councillor in the Rustenburg Local Municipality, for his efforts to improve the lives of residents in Ward 21, Boitekong, in the Rustenburg sub-region. “His work was acknowledged by President Cyril Ramaphosa during the ANC Gala Dinner on Friday, January 9th, at Sun City Resort, where he was recognised as one of the young councillors serving the ANC with integrity and dedication. “We encourage other young councillors to serve their communities with commitment, patience, and unwavering loyalty to the ANC as the country is heading towards local government elections this year.” Post navigation NW reserves funds to unblock housing project ANC birthday weekend boosts Moruleng economy
